The Jones Walker LLP State and Local Tax Team is back in Houston, TX with a day-long program on Thursday, October 23, 2025. There has been quite a bit of Hocus Pocus this year in Louisiana tax. We will unlock the spells, tricks, and tax traps that will have you staying home this Halloween! This state and local tax seminar will provide practical and solution-focused tax guidance to help businesses navigate through high-stakes legal developments and regulations.

First, you will be guided through making the right potion for your protests and audits so you can understand how to proceed with your spells and tax planning. Then, we Know What You Did Last Session and will provide an overview of Louisiana’s regular and special sessions. Next, you will have all of the information you need for an interactive review of Louisiana’s spookiest sales tax developments to see how everything could impact your business.

Join us at lunch for a moderated panel of key state tax administrators from Louisiana and Texas. We promise – they are not so scary after all! The administrators will provide their perspective and guidance on recent tax developments.

  • Richard Nelson, Secretary, Louisiana Department of Revenue
  • Jenny Burleson, Director — Tax Policy, Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts
  • Arthur Parham, Moderator, General Tax Advisor, Entergy (Retired)
