Jones Walker State & Local Tax Partner Kimberly Lewis Robinson has been tapped by Louisiana Governor-elect John Bel Edwards to serve as the new Secretary of Revenue for the State of Louisiana.
Kim ‘s appointment was announced yesterday afternoon by Governor-elect Edwards during a press conference in Baton Rouge.
In her new role, Kim will lead the Louisiana Department of Revenue, and she is tasked with repairing the state’s budget. She has also been serving as a member of the Governor-elect’s Transition Team for Finance.
On Kim ‘s recent appointment, SALT Partner and Tax & Estates Practice Group leader Bill Backstrom said:
Kim will be a great Secretary of Revenue. Her experience both in public service and at Jones Walker will help Kim lead the Department in the coming years. We will miss Kim and we look forward to working with her as she assumes her new position.
Prior to joining Jones Walker, Kim served as special counsel for the Office of the Governor of the State of Louisiana, where she provided legal counsel to Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco. During her tenure with Governor Blanco, Kim served as a liaison to the Louisiana Departments of Revenue and Economic Development, and she served as senior policy adviser on economic development, insurance, and revenue policy. Kim also worked for six years in the Louisiana Department of Revenue, serving as Assistant Secretary for the Office of Legal Affairs and Confidential Assistant to the Secretary.
